Modern Language & Literature (MODL)
The purpose to this course is to enable individuals to improve their English pronunciation. This course is not designed to teach grammar or vocabulary. It has been created for people who want to be more clearly understood in their professional and personal conversations.
Studies of foreign-language literature in translation and examination of the impact of foreign works on modern thought and various cultures. Taught in English. May be repeated for credit with different topics.
An examination of the music, arts, literature, folklore, customs, institutions, and peoples of diverse world cultures. Taught in English. May be repeated for credit with different topics.
This course offers students an introduction to selected world regions and cultures through the study of contemporary film. By incorporating films with social, historical, and political contexts of discrete regions, students will develop a critical understanding of the relationship between foreign films and their represented cultures. Students will view a variety of films from a selected linguistic region (e.g. French and francophone world, Latin America, Basque country, etc.), and explore significant culture topics such as race, politics, gender, and/or family.
Studies in a modern or classical language. Examples of topics include composition and writing, introduction to literature, and intensive studies of one or more of the components of the target language. May be repeated for credit with different topics.
Course designed for study abroad credit in language other than Spanish or French.
